This outdoor intervention consists of mixed-media works on tongue-and-groove wood, left at random in public spaces. The gesture seeks to provoke reflection on loss and the erosion of communal bonds in contemporary society. Just as there can be no choristers without a choir, the modern subject drifts without the collective shelter once offered by pre-capitalist communities.
The word choir is no accident: it evokes a shared voice, a common presence, and resonates with cor (Latin for “heart”), a traditional symbol of emotion and belonging. The work interlaces the social and the intimate, pointing to a profound human longing for recognition, connection, and care. By placing these mute presences within the contingency of the landscape, the project emphasizes absence, the silent void left by what no longer sustains us.
